Was this advert a success? Yes. One hundred times, yes.
I am the mere age of 21 yet I still recognise and adore this song. It’s that song that never dies and you’ll never remember how you know it, but you don’t care, you’re here for it. It’s catchy, it’s heartwarming, it’s an electric dream.
This advert recreates that heart warming feeling of being at the pub with your friends. Connecting with strangers over pints and, in this case, a good sing – a – long. This then gets recreated at your own home. The second this advert comes on, you know someone is going to sing-a- long and weather you like it or not, so will you. Before you know it the entire household is singing along, and you want to go grab a pint. The music breaks through clutter as it is a well recognised song.
Strong bow pull on the audience emotions and nostalgia to draw our attention. It uses a typical UK pub to resonate with all us all. Not to mention everyone is in the pub and I mean everyone. Strong bow leaves no one out. People of all ages are seen drinking their pint, laughing, getting louder as the advert goes on. It generates discussion because even after the advert is over, we find ourselves humming the song for the rest of the day. The power of a good sound cue can have such an impact, in this case it makes the advert.
